Delivery of online learning

Designing online learning

These are the results of the survey about the delivery of home learning that I sent to Melaleuca families at the outset of the 2021 Covid lockdown, to gather feedback on what had and had not worked well for families during the first period of home learning in 2020. This data was used to inform how online learning was delivered to the class during the 2021 lockdown.

Sample resources from online learning

During home learning, I hosted a weekly cooking session for Cycle 2 children and their families. The first of these was making chocolate almond date balls, which I chose due to the simplicity of the ingredients and method. I created a recipe sheet for children to download, which included materials and equipment needed. Below is the recipe sheet and the video of the lesson.

Parental consent to participate in lesson recordings

To ensure the safety of children online, parents were asked to give consent for their children to participate in lessons that were being recorded, and to nominate any restrictions or conditions around that consent. I also invited parents to contact me if they wanted to discuss the issue further.

Shared planning and delivery

This timetable shows the plan for shared delivery of online learning between the two lower primary classes. My colleague presented lessons on Monday and Tuesday during which time I held one-on-one conferences with the children in my class; I presented lessons on Thursday and Friday, and similarly my colleague held his conferences during those days. We shared delivery of presentations on Wednesdays.
